Rudd's Transfer and Storage, Inc. was founded February 1, 1921 in Long Beach, California, doing business as a local moving and storage company. In 1961, Rudd's Transfer and Storage, Inc. was incorporated and purchased another company, Columbia Van Lines, Inc. of California (U.S. DOT No. 495585) - not affiliated with Atlas Van Lines, Inc. This purchase has allowed Rudd's to offer all hauling services, except hazardous materials, to the general public.

As the demands of our customer base has grown over the years, we have tried to stay one step ahead. We became affiliated with Atlas Van Lines, Inc. (U.S. DOT No. 125550), Evansville, Indiana, in May of 1975. This action expanded our transportation service to become a worldwide organization.

Atlas Van Lines, Inc. has an agency family of over 400 in the United States, more than 200 in Canada, and 200 agents in almost every country in the world.

To further enhance our transportation position for our customers, Rudd's entered into an agreement with sixty-one fellow Atlas agents to purchase Atlas Van Lines, Inc. from its parent company. Effective March 17, 1988, the final sale of Atlas to its agents was completed. Our computer ties with the Atlas home office allows us to offer our customers first hand information on shipments anywhere in the world.
